Start the Basketball Season With The V Foundation

College basketball season is here!

When Jim Valvano was 17 years old, he wrote down his professional aspirations: to play basketball in high school and college, become an assistant basketball coach, become a head coach, and cut down the nets after winning a national championship.

Jim played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights from 1964 to 1967.  During his career, he was the head coach for Johns Hopkins, Bucknell University, Iona College, and NC State University.  Jim famously led his NC State team to an NCAA National Championship in 1983.

Jim achieved his professional dreams, and with the help of our supporters, we can achieve his dream of finding a cure for cancer.

The V Foundation is involved with college basketball with the Jimmy V Basketball Classics during ESPN’s V Week.  The Jimmy V Men’s Basketball Classic will take place on Tuesday, December 7th this year at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  Once again, the event will showcase four of the nation’s elite collegiate teams in two games: Memphis vs. Kansas and Michigan State vs. Syracuse.  The Jimmy V Women’s Basketball Classic, Texas A&M vs. Duke, will take place December 6 at Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke University.

Enjoy basketball season, and remember that we are all one team in the fight against cancer!  Support your team and support cancer research!
