2010 V Foundation Wine Celebration An Incredible Success!

St. Helena, California – August 19, 2010- The V Foundation Wine Celebration event raised over $2.2 Million for cancer research during their weekend event on August 6 & 7.

The 12th Annual V Foundation Wine Celebration also achieved an incredible milestone of surpassing the $100 million dollar mark in money raised by The V Foundation for cancer research.

The weekend was a huge success with generous donations garnering an impressive $2.2 million with 100% of cash contributions and net proceeds from events used for cancer research and cancer related programs.  The 530 attendees honored the Vintner’s Grant recipients, Blakesley & Cyril Chappellet, in the name of Melanoma Research, and the Fund-A-Need honoree and Leukemia survivor, Teri Kuhn of Pillar Rock Winery, for Leukemia Research.

Guests celebrated throughout the weekend at lavish vintner’s dinners, outdoor food and wine receptions, and culminating with the gala event at Nickel & Nickel winery. The gala event was hosted by Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K), coach of both the 2010 NCAA Champions, the Duke Blue Devils, and the US Olympic Gold Medal Men’s Basketball Team; and Bob Lloyd, The V Foundation Chairman.  Guests were entertained with musical guests Huey Lewis and the News.

With continued support, The V Foundation is one step closer to the goal of finding a cure for cancer.  Their success comes from charitable individuals who embrace the mission, message and spirit of Jimmy Valvano.
