Apple Gold Group Launches 4th Annual Fundraiser for The V Foundation
North Carolina Applebee’s Restaurants will Raise $200,000 for Cancer Research
The Apple Gold Group, franchisee of Applebee’s restaurants in North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arkansas, proudly announces the launch of its fourth annual March fundraiser in support of The V foundation for Cancer Research.
The event will run from March 3rd through April 5th and is held in conjunction with The V Foundation’s annual Show Your Spirit® campaign during the National Collegiate Basketball Tournaments. Apple Gold’s goal is to raise over $200,000 for cancer research.
Guests who dine at any of the 51 Apple Gold Applebee’s locations in North Carolina will be invited to donate $1 or more to The V Foundation for Cancer Research. For each $1 donated, guests will be given a paper basketball to personalize and then hang in the restaurant. In the spirit of the tournament season, guests may choose from several different basketball styles representing UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake Forest, ECU and other local universities.
“We are excited to continue our work with The V Foundation as our organization’s ‘charity of choice’ and are proud to support its goal to raise money for cancer research,” said Michael Olander, President and CEO of Apple Gold Group. “The Applebee’s fundraiser for The V Foundation is a way for us to raise a lot of money to find a cure for a disease that touches all of our lives, and in a way that encourages some fun and friendly participation among our guests during their visit to Applebee’s.”
The 2010 “Show Your Spirit” campaign takes place from March 18-April 6, during the collegiate basketball tournament. Last year, the Apple Gold Group raised $128,000 for the fight against cancer, and plans to do even better in 2010 with the help and generosity of Applebee’s guests.
“It’s is encouraging to see the support for The V Foundation’s mission from many different North Carolina communities made possible by the Apple Gold Group and their Applebee’s restaurants,” said Nick Valvano, CEO of The V Foundation for Cancer Research. “In the fight against cancer, we all play on the same team.”
