Apple Gold Group Launches 5th Annual Fundraiser for The V Foundation

North Carolina Applebee’s Restaurants Goal To Raise $225,000 for Cancer Research

The Apple Gold Group, franchisee of Applebee’s restaurants in North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arkansas, proudly announces the launch of its fifth annual March fundraiser in support of The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The event will run from March 3rd through April 4th during the NCAA’s Men’s Basketball Tournament. Funds raised this year through Applebee’s will go to pediatric cancer research at Duke Children’s Hospital.

Guests who dine at any of the over 50 Apple Gold Applebee’s locations in North Carolina will be invited to donate $1 or more to The V Foundation for Cancer Research. For each $1 donated, guests will be given a paper basketball to personalize and then hang in the restaurant. In the spirit of the tournament season, guests may choose from several different basketball styles representing Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, ECU and other local universities.

“We are honored to continue our work with The V Foundation as our organization’s ‘charity of choice’ and are proud to support its goal to raise money for cancer research,” said Michael Olander, President and CEO of Apple Gold Group.  “This fundraiser is a great way for the Applebee’s team to raise a lot of money to find a cure for a disease that touches all of our lives, and in a way that encourages some fun and friendly participation among our guests during their visit to Applebee’s.”

Last year, the Apple Gold Group raised $175,000 for The V Foundation’s fight against cancer, and has a goal of raising $225,000 this year with the help and generosity of Applebee’s guests and employees.

“It’s encouraging to see the support for The V Foundation’s mission from many different North Carolina communities made possible by the Apple Gold Group and their Applebee’s restaurants,” said Nick Valvano, CEO of The V Foundation for Cancer Research.  “Their efforts will be recognized through a pediatric research grant awarded to Duke Children’s Hospital.”
