Congratulations to This Year’s Comeback Award Winner!
ESPN and The V Foundation are proud to announce the winner of the 11th annual Jimmy V Comeback Award, Miss Dawn Evans of James Madison University. Dawn is one of the NCAA’s leading scorers, averaging 23.6 points per game. She was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a disease that attacks the kidneys’ filtering system, in December 2009. Miraculously, Dawn only missed 3 of 60 games during the 2009-10 season due to her disease. She has broken more than 40 school records to date and has been nominated for many other awards such as the Naismith trophy, Wooden Award, and Lowe’s Senior CLASS. Dawn raises awareness for FSGS by regularly working with The NephCure Foundation. She also spends a lot of her spare time meeting with others suffering from FSGS and being an active leader in the fight against FSGS. It’s amazing what one person can accomplish in the face of adversity. Without further ado, our congratulations go out to Dawn Evans! Let her life be an inspiration to us all.
