September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Cancer is the leading cause for death for children under the age of 15. This month not only builds awareness for those children battling cancer, it also encourages others to get out there and support those in need in their local communities.
Here at The V Foundation, we recently awarded $750,000 in pediatric research grants in honor of three children, Lucy Webber, Johnny Teis and Adrian Littlejohn, who lost their lives to cancer. The grant was presented at the Dick Vitale Gala in May. “I hope that the research funded in their names will someday help other kids faced with this dreaded disease, and keep Lucy, Johnny and Adrian’s stars shining brightly in future years,” said Dick Vitale. We hope that everyone supports Childhood Cancer Awareness Month so we can continue unraveling the mystery of cancer for both kids and adults alike.
