Share Your Story

The “Share Your V Story” section of our website is a touching collection of stories written and published by people whose paths have crossed with The V Foundation. One story, entitled “Living The Speech” caught our eye this week and we wanted to share it with you.

A son posted a story about him and his father watching the 1993 ESPY speech together. Years later his father was diagnosed with cancer and lost his battle in 2002.

“While I don’t ever remember discussing ‘The Speech’ during his battle, I could see my father living via the advice Jimmy V had given to us all 8 to 9 years prior. One of the very last things my father said to me was ‘I fought the good fight.’ I was never prouder of him,” he wrote.

This man now has two daughters of his own and he is looking forward to the day that he will sit down with his children and watch the 1993 Jimmy V Speech, just as he did with his father.
