The V Foundation & Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure Help Fund Brain Cancer Research
Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure and The V Foundation have joined together to award Dr. Hai Yan from Duke University Medical Center $1 million in a research grant. Dr. Hai Yan is further developing new approaches to target gilomas. Malignant gliomas are among the most lethal, common types of brain cancer. Over 200,000 Americans are affected each year. Dr. Hai Yan’s research will help doctors and patients better understand novel glioma genes, which should create new targeted therapy to fight this disease. The research should also give a greater understanding of the cancer metabolism in gilomas as well as other types of cancer.
We are happy that two of cancer organizations could pair up in the hopes of dramatically improving the quality of life for patients with brain cancer. The funds raised came from the 13th Annual V Foundation Wine Celebration in Napa Valley. With the help of supporters and the Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure, we were able to raise the money needed for Dr. Hai Yan’s research.
