Give me a “V” Five!
In 2002, a group of friends at the University of Virginia decided to give out high fives and lemonade in the main quad of campus.
For the past ten years on the third Thursday in April, people have been giving high fives on this day to support cancer research. This year, a portion of the donations raised will be going to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Now I know what you are thinking, how does the fact that I give someone a high five, help raise money for cancer…easy. Go to the website and click join the National High-5-A-Thon for Cancer Research and start raising money. Every person who donates will be entered in drawings for prizes.
But that is not all. The V Foundation wants to take another spin on the project. On April 19th, we want you to “V” five your friends, family, colleagues and more. A “V” is when to people give each other a low five in the shape of “V”.
Sounds crazy? No. Sounds like a great way to spend a Thursday? Yes.
Start your own team, join a team or make a donation to team. Either way get your hand ready for April 19th, “V” fives for everyone!
