What’s in a Name?
I have a slight confession to make. I love the Lion King. The music, the story and the names in the movie…Yes, we named our dogs Nala and Simba. And yes, I probably still know all the words to “I Just Can’t Wait to be King.” But, one of the best songs was Hakuna Matata.
Now, you can try to resist but you know you just started singing the song in your head. There is a moment in the song, where Pumbaa and Timon are describing Pumbaa’s childhood. Pumbaa says he thought about changing his name and Timon responds with “What’s in a name?”
And that one line has been stuck in my head all summer long. Every time I think about The V Foundation’s blog and its name….blog. Yep, it’s really cool, right? I think a celebrity might name one of their kids after it soon.
But it doesn’t describe us. It doesn’t describe the goals and mission of The V Foundation. It doesn’t stick out or grab your attention. It’s just…a blog.
We decided that this month we are going to have a contest. A “Name the Blog” contest. From today until Sunday, September 16, we are going to be accepting names for our blog. Then we will narrow it down to the top 5 and hold a vote on Facebook. The winner will get to have their submission as the new blog name and win a prize pack from The V Foundation including a tumbler with our logo and a wristband.
Enter your name by emailing [email protected] with your name for the blog and your name/email address. You can also send us a message on our Facebook page! Remember whatever way you submit your idea- make sure we have a way of contacting you!
