20 Years of the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic: Recap!
What a weekend! The event started with the V Jam on Thursday evening. The concert was at the Red Hat Amphitheater and was part of the LP Tour featuring Big Head Todd and the Monsters, The Wailers, Soul Asylum and Matthew Sweet. Make sure you check out our Facebook album for some great images from all the bands.
Festivities then moved to the Raleigh Convention Center on Friday evening for the annual launch party and reverse raffle. One lucky winner walked away with a new BMW! Then Saturday morning, a fashion show was held at Zinda restaurant. It was hosted by Paul Boyd from Inside Edition and Candace Cameron (DJ Tanner from Full House). More than sixty models walked in the show including our own Danielle Smith.
At the Gala Saturday evening, guests experienced a full evening of “Laugh, Think & Cry.” The entertainment had everyone laughing. Dr. Cavanagh discussed his program at NC State and his “rock star” team of researchers, and then one of the Junior Jimmy V Ambassadors spoke about his younger brother, who had cancer. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house! Guests were also able to witness a reunion of the 1983 NC State National Championship Men’s Basketball team as they received the “Spirit of Jimmy V” Award.
On Sunday, the North Ridge Country Club hosted an incredible golf tournament. Sponsors such as Canadian Mist, PDQ and Hooters helped make the event a success … not to mention the incredible celebrities, like Roger Clemmons, David Justice and Scotty McCreery, who generously donated their time over the weekend. The weather was great on Sunday and more than 11,000 spectators attended the event.
A special thanks to everyone – including more than 550 volunteers – who made the weekend so memorable!
