The V Foundation for Cancer Research Receives Tenth 4-Star Rating by Charity Navigator

4Star125x125Third Consecutive Award Places The V Foundation in Top 10% of Rated Charities

The V Foundation for Cancer Research, one of the nation’s leading cancer research funding organizations, is proud to announce that it has been awarded a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the tenth time in its history.  Charity Navigator, a leading national charity evaluator, has awarded its highest rating of four stars to The V Foundation for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.  With the current 4-star rating, The V Foundation ranks in the top 10 percent of rated charities.

“The V Foundation is known for the strength of its governance and transparent excellence,” said Susan Braun, CEO of The V Foundation. “We’re honored to be recognized as a top charity by Charity Navigator.”

As the nonprofit sector continues to grow and donors demand more quantifiable results, Charity Navigator has been praised for its unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector.  Charity Navigator evaluates ten times more charities than its nearest competitor and attracts more visitors to its website than all other charity rating groups combined.  It is estimated that Charity Navigator influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts last year.  The “exceptional” 4-star evaluation differentiates The V Foundation from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust and support.

“Only 10% of the charities we rate have received at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that The V Foundation for Cancer Research outperforms most other charities in America,” Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator.

The V Foundation was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary NC State basketball coach and ESPN commentator.  In its 20 years, The V Foundation has awarded more than $100 million for research into all types of cancer to more than 100 institutions in 38 states and the District of Columbia.  The V Foundation awards 100 percent of all direct cash donations to cancer research and related programs.
