VOTS: Charlotte Brewz Music & Art Festival

Charlotte has long been called the “The Queen City.” Although the streets lined with company headquarters and bustling businessmen elevate the city to the second largest financial center in the nation, but is this the only reason many call Charlotte “The Gem of the South”? Some of its locals believe we should think on it . . . or drink on it.

It was this belief that inspired Lee to create an event that would bring the city together and showcase its unique culture. Presented by CLTure, RockHouse Events, NC Music Factory and organizers of AWOL Charlotte, the Brewz Music and Arts Festival showcases diversity in local music, art and culture. The event will take place on October 19th and feature North Carolina’s finest regional breweries, national and local bands, live art, fashion and food trucks.

“We kind of want it to be something you can have fun with and a celebration of everything that is good in Charlotte,” says Lee.

Brewz Music and Arts Festival will take place on October 19th from 12pm until 11pm. Tickets are on sale at www.brewzfest.com/ticketing.

“I think the biggest thing for me personally is just growing up knowing Jim’s story and remembering that speech,” says Lee. “The part [in his ESPYs speech] where he said, ‘if you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day,’ as you grow up and realize where he was coming from, it really impacts you.”
