Team V taking Raleigh by storm!
On March 22, Team V welcomed its newest member, Andy Katz. Andy Katz is a well-know figure in the sporting world. He is a senior college basketball journalist for ESPN.com, host of ESPNU’s Katz’s Korner and NCAA reporter.
Katz joined Team V in a weekly training run and spoke about his passion for the cause and his personal fundraising efforts.
On April 6, just hours after covering the national semifinals on ESPN, Katz ran a personal best in the Big D Texas Half Marathon and raised more than $4,000 for The V Foundation. He wore “TEAM PAT” on his race-day shirt to honor Pat McCaffery, son of Iowa coach Fran McCaffery.
Katz is fundraising for The V Foundation in support of his friends, family and colleagues who have battled cancer. He shares these personal stories on his fundraising page. Through his tweets, he encourages each of his 336,000 Twitter followers to donate just $5 to The V Foundation.
Men, women, adults and children will travel far and wide to unite in support of cancer research. Team V members range from ages 13-69 and hail from 32 states and D.C. Team V’s youngest member is 13-year-old Andrew Caruana. Rod Tinnemore is traveling 2,914 miles from Olympia, WA to join his team on race day. The team is 65% women and 35% men, with 24% running the full marathon and 76% running the half marathon.
