The AppleGold Group, Raleigh- based franchisee of Applebee’s Grill and Bar, proudly announces the launch of its ninth annual March fundraiser in support of The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The fundraiser will run from March 5th through April 7th during the men’s and women’s ACC and NCAA Basketball Tournaments. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised through Applebee’s will be donated to The V Foundation to continue to fund peer-reviewed pediatric cancer research projects at Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, through a grant established in AppleGold Group’s name.

Guests who dine at any of AppleGold’s 70 participating Applebee’s locations throughout North Carolina, Kentucky and Indiana will be invited to donate $1 or more to The V Foundation for Cancer Research. For each dollar donated, guests will be given a paper basketball to personalize and hang in the restaurant. In the spirit of the tournament season, guests may choose from several different basketballs representing Duke, UNC, NC State and other local universities.

“We are honored to continue our March Hoops fundraiser. It’s an excellent, fun way for our team members, neighbors and communities to partner in the pursuit for a cure to a disease that touches all of our lives,” said Michael Olander, President and CEO of AppleGold Group. “We are proud of our nine year partnership with The V Foundation and our goal is to bring our community together during tournament season.”

In 2014, the March Hoops fundraiser pushed the AppleGold Group past the $1 million mark in total funds raised in support of The V Foundation’s fight against cancer and has a lofty goal of raising another $200,000 this year with the help and generosity of Applebee’s guests and team members.

“This partnership is a great example of how a great company like AppleGold can work with their customers to raise awareness about cancer research and funds for specific projects,” said Susan Braun, CEO of The V Foundation for Cancer Research “We know that these funds will go a long way in helping us fight cancer in children.”
