Team V Runners to Take on TCS New York City Marathon, Raise Funds for Cancer Research
The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a nonprofit organization committed to funding cutting-edge cancer research and related programs, is proud to be a charity partner of the TCS New York City Marathon, to be held on November 1. More than 100 participants have joined Team V, The V Foundation’s official endurance training and fundraising team, to raise funds for cancer research at the world’s biggest and most popular marathon. Team V has had a strong presence at races across the country and is expected to break an annual fundraising record this year, following the New York City event.
“Team V is a great community that is growing in its fundraising power and in its commitment to end cancer,” said Susan Braun, CEO of The V Foundation. “Both require mighty skill and endurance. Both require commitment and hard work. And, both end at a remarkable finish line!”
Sold out for months, Team V’s turnout at the TCS New York City Marathon will be its largest to date. Each runner has committed to a $3,000 fundraising minimum, with some individuals raising thousands more. The V Foundation offers Team V participants many amenities, including free registration, guaranteed entry into the event, race day gear and personalized fundraising support. Net proceeds of all Team V events are awarded to cancer research and related programs. Runners have until December 31 to meet their fundraising goals.
In its second year, Team V’s involvement in the TCS New York City Marathon reflects a noteworthy increase in The V Foundation’s fundraising efforts and participation at endurance events across the country. The V Foundation is the official charity partner of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon, ½ Marathon & 5K and was a preferred charity partner in the 2015 Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon, 10K and 5K. Team V has recruited more than 750 runners and walkers to join the fight against cancer at endurance events over the last two years. The team has raised more than $700,000 to date.
The TCS New York City Marathon also marks the close of Team V events this year, as preparation and training begins for 2016. Team V’s next official race is the 2016 Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon, ½ Marathon & 5K, which will take place April 9 and 10 in downtown Raleigh, N.C. With a 5K added to the 2016 event, members are able to sign up for the Remix Challenge by participating in the 5K and either the half or full marathon. The fundraising minimum for Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh is $750, with additional benefits available for those raising $1,500 or more.
