About the V Foundation
It started in 1993, when Jim Valvano stepped onto the stage at the inaugural ESPYS Award Show and delivered a speech that would inspire millions. Since that day, we’ve funded over $353 million in cancer research dedicated to seeking breakthroughs and saving lives.
Hockey Fights Cancer
For 25 years the NHL and NHL Players Association have been dedicated to fighting cancer through the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative. The program unites the entire hockey community to inspire hope and courage for those who are living with, going through, and moving past cancer.
Hockey Fights Cancer Nights
Throughout the 2023-24 NHL season each NHL team will host a Hockey Fights Cancer Night to recognize the fight against cancer and honor survivors. Find an upcoming Hockey Fights Cancer night near you!
The Research
The V Foundation continues to be one of the premier supporters of cutting-edge cancer research, awarding over $310 million in grants to the best and brightest scientists since its inception.
