Grants Awarded in 2018
About Cancer Research
The V Foundation’s grant making model ensures the most promising cancer research projects at state-of-the-art facilities around the country are funded. Cancer research grants are awarded to innovative researchers with the most cutting-edge ideas on how to improve cancer diagnosis methods, prevent cancer recurrences or defeat cancer. 100% of direct donations are used to fund projects we identify as the most likely to help men, women and children diagnosed with cancer.
The V Foundation Grant Process
The V Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals. The V Foundation issues a call to the 70 NCI-designated cancer centers, other specially selected cancer centers and select Canadian research facilities. These centers will hold internal competitions to determine the strongest grant proposal. Each cancer center is typically eligible to submit only one proposal per grant type for consideration. The submitted proposals will then be reviewed by our world-class Scientific Advisory Committee. The Committee will recommend the best proposals to fund. Progress reports for grants we are award are submitted annually. There are 4 different types of grants awarded by the V Foundation including V Scholar Grants, Translational Grants, Designated Grants and Mission Grants, each varying in size and duration.
Where Does Cancer Research Money Go?
100% of direct donations to the V Foundation benefit cancer research and programs. This means every single penny you donate supports cancer research and not V Foundation operating expenses. Operating expenses are paid for by the V Foundation’s endowment.
