Partner since 2023
In July 2023, the National Hockey League (NHL), the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the V Foundation announced a groundbreaking new partnership on the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative with a goal of dramatically accelerating fundraising for cancer research.
To date, Hockey Fights Cancer and the V Foundation have raised over $12.3 million for cancer research in just three seasons together, funding research in 22 of the 32 NHL markets across 48 grants, with continued expansion planned.
Hockey Fights Cancer was founded in 1998 by the NHL and NHLPA to unite the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. The NHL has led the way as the first major sports league to pioneer a national cause program.
