For Louise Please

In lieu of flowers, please join us in supporting the fight against cancer in memory of an amazing mother, friend, partner, confidant, mentor, and all around source of inspiration. If you know my mom, like I know my mom, she is up there saying, “don’t bother with flowers for me, I’m gone, put your efforts where the will do some good!” Giving was a part of her soul. Thank you all for being a part of the tapestry of her life.

Dick Vitale Gala

The 19th annual Dick Vitale Gala, benefiting the V Foundation, will be held May 3, 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, Florida.

The honorees will be:

  • Derek Jeter, Baseball Hall of Fame
  • Jeff Gordon, NASCAR Hall of Fame
  • Rick Barnes, Tennessee Men’s Head Basketball Coach

The John Saunders Courage Award will go to Nikki McCray, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. The Dick Vitale Spirit Award will go to Jim Kelly, Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The mission of the Dick Vitale Gala is to raise awareness of the inspiring stories of children who have faced cancer and raise funds for the V Foundation’s Dick Vitale Pediatric Cancer Research Fund. To date, the V Foundation has awarded almost $66.7 million to pediatric cancer research. And cancer research is saving lives. Today, 85% of children with cancer now survive 5 years or more, a huge increase from the mid-1970’s when it was 58%.

While there is more work to do, there is victory in progress.
