New Discoveries at the Inaugural NC Cancer Symposium
We at The V Foundation were proud to welcome numerous distinguished local doctors and researchers under one roof to share their knowledge in the field of cancer research with the public. The event, held at the Raleigh Convention Center on Saturday, August 15, included impressing individual presentations by the doctors and researchers, as well as an informative Q & A session, and “hands-on” exhibits. The doctors and researchers at the center of the day’s activities were from Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Rex Hospital, and North Carolina State University. The doctors involved in the Scientific Symposium, many of whom are previous recipients of V Foundation Research Grants, emphasized the importance of the new strides taken in cancer research and each was a proud part of this inaugural North Carolina Scientific Symposium.
The symposium was interactive for guests, who were addressed by the inspirational Jamie Valvano Howard and were able to preview a video highlighting our Foundation goals. The audience was able to speak frankly with the doctors, and all were able to enjoy a “hands-on” experience with several different cancer exhibits. We appreciate all who came out to this exciting and informative event full of new discoveries in cancer research to support the local doctors and The V Foundation in our mission to fight the war against cancer.
