According to NCI, people who have a poor diet, are not physically active, or are overweight may be at increased risk of several types of cancer. Studies suggest that people whose diet is high in fat have an increased risk of colon cancer, uterine cancer, and prostate cancer. People who are overweight or not physically active are at an increased risk for breast cancer, colon cancer, esophageal cancer, kidney cancer, and uterine cancer.
To reduce your risk of cancer, eat well and have a healthy diet. Limit foods that are high in fat such as butter, whole milk, fried foods, and red meat. Be sure to have plenty of foods that are high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, including whole-grain breads and five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables every day.
