Dr. Ravi Salgia of The University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center is helping improve prognoses for lung cancer patients with innovative targeted therapies and new technologies. Salgia recently developed a web application that allows doctors and patients to search for therapies and clinical trials based on a patient’s unique case. Salgia’s group also engineered a database program that merges clinical and research data. Collaborations and data sharing help physicians apply discoveries made in the laboratory at the patient’s bedside, and they help researchers make meaningful analyses of tumors. “Through our network, our expertise in clinical medicine, as well as translational and basic research, is unparalleled,” said Salgia.

Salgia received two V Foundation grants in 2003 and 2007.
