Bristol Myers Squibb’s 2025 Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer Ride Raises $1.35 Million to Fund High-Impact Research at the V Foundation for Cancer Research
CARY, NC (October 17, 2025) – Earlier this month, The V Foundation for Cancer Research joined Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY) at its Princeton Pike campus in New Jersey to celebrate the successful finale of the 12th annual Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer ride, a cross-country charity cycling event that raises funds for lifesaving cancer research. In total, Bristol Myers Squibb raised over $1.35 million from this year’s event that was donated to the V Foundation, including rider-raised funds and a $500,000 corporate match from Bristol Myers Squibb. This donation will support research grants at prominent cancer centers, driving forward high-impact projects to improve patient care and outcomes.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to Bristol Myers Squibb for their continued dedication to cancer research and to every rider who spent months training and fundraising for this important cause,” said Clark Kinlin, interim CEO at the V Foundation for Cancer Research. “There is an urgent need for advancements in many areas – from early detection tools to treatment of the most aggressive cancer types – and our valued partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb plays a key role in supporting this vital work.”
Since the first Coast 2 Coast event in 2014, the global Bristol Myers Squibb workforce has come together annually to demonstrate their long-standing commitment to cancer research through the rides. The tradition began when a group of Oncology employees were compelled to do more for those impacted by cancer. The V Foundation became the beneficiary of the U.S. ride in 2018, and Coast 2 Coast has raised more than $11.6 million for the organization since that time.
“More than 100 Bristol Myers Squibb employees took to the road for nearly a month to participate in the 2025 edition of Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer, cycling from Oregon to New Jersey, all in the name of patients and advancing cancer research,” said Wendy Short Bartie, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Bristol Myers Squibb. “We are proud to support the V Foundation in raising funds for advancements in cancer research that make a difference in the lives of patients, including family and friends living with cancer.”
In total, nine teams relayed nearly 3,000 miles across the country, with each rider covering approximately 225 miles. The participants dedicated more than five months to training and fundraising. Each has a personal connection to the cause, including cancer survivors, family members, and friends.
Kim Marcinkus cycled the third segment from Boise, ID, to Salt Lake City, UT, in honor of her daughter, a pediatric cancer survivor who is now a thriving young adult. “The V Foundation is an amazing organization where every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research, and this mission is truly personal to me. No one expects to be diagnosed with cancer, but you absolutely could never imagine it would happen to your child,” said Marcinkus. “I ride to honor all those we’ve lost to cancer, to inspire hope in those who are fighting, and to celebrate survivors like my daughter, Hailey.”
