The V Foundation for Cancer Research Announces Sixth Annual Victory Ride to Cure Cancer

As V Foundation Celebrates 30 Years, Victory Ride Offers a New Look with Updated Location, Routes, and More

Cary, NC (January 9, 2023) – The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a top-rated cancer research charity, is excited to announce the sixth annual Victory Ride to Cure Cancer will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Knightdale Station Park in Knightdale, NC. Registration for the event is now open and early registration pricing continues through February 15.

The event will take place during the V Foundation’s yearlong celebration of its 30th anniversary with opportunities for participants to join the celebrations. Since the event’s inception, the Victory Ride has raised over $1.3 million for cancer research to benefit North Carolina-based research institutions.

“We are thrilled to bring back the Victory Ride this year in a way that encourages even more community involvement. Our new location offers safe and fun routes as well as a family-friendly venue to enjoy the post-ride festivities,” said Emily Clay, Victory Ride Coordinator. “In celebration of the V Foundation’s 30th anniversary this year, the top three Victory Ride fundraisers will also be invited to a special gala held at NC State University in June that honors Jim Valvano’s legacy and all the progress we’ve made in the fight against cancer.”

The Victory Ride will begin and end at Knightdale Station Park and will offer 10-, 30-, and 60-mile distances to accommodate cyclists at any level. Maps of each route will be available in the spring. Community members can also support the event by volunteering in a variety of roles such as packet pick-up and event day operations. For those who cannot attend in person, the Victory Ride offers a virtual option for riders to choose a day, distance, and location that works best for them.

Fundraising is optional, but highly encouraged, to help achieve Victory Over Cancer®. Individuals and teams who hit key fundraising milestones will receive exclusive rewards including custom Victory Ride shirts, hats, cycling kits and more. The ultimate reward, however, is raising funds that will make a direct impact on the future of cancer research and save more lives.

“I participate in the Victory Ride because we need an end to this disease so families can remain whole and don’t have to worry about saying early goodbyes,” said John Latteri, a 2022 rider. “The reality is that the fight against cancer is a cause we can all get behind.”

100% of rider-raised dollars will fund game-changing cancer research at Duke Cancer Institute, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as breakthrough cancer research nationwide.
